A NEW WEEK

The head cold is slowly leaving my system. I was able to go to work yesterday with a little help from non-drowsy medication to slow the coughing and nose blowing.  There were new things to learn, and soon my mind was more on that than the lingering symptoms – the old ‘break your little finger to take your mind off your headache’ thing.

It will probably be awhile, if ever, before I can get to any sleeping routine. For the past two years I have been living in pyjamas, doing my job from home and able to grab a couple of hours of snooze time here and there whenever the need arose. My shifts are not usually long, but one is standing for the majority of it, and needs to be dressed, awake and focused. It’s gonna take some adjusting!

My grandson contacted me Saturday night to tell me he had good tickets for the hockey game on Tuesday, and was inviting myself and Little Flea’s daddy to go with him. I warned him that I hadn’t yet received my schedule for this week, having missed last Thursday with the cold. It was the first thing I checked on going in yesterday and, sure enough, I’m booked for that day from 2:30 to 9:00 PM, so once more I have to refuse. Truthfully, I would be a bit leery of going into a crowd of 21,000 people anyway, many probably not wearing masks. It’s still too soon. I won’t be able to watch the game until midnight, when they show the Express version, so I’ll keep the radio turned off until I get home. My youngest son, being the tease he is, warned me that he was going to text me the score. Pest.

We had a snow storm on the weekend – it’s a winter wonderland out there right now – but warmer temperatures are predicted for the coming days. All good things must end, and winter is on its way out. It saddens me, at least until I see the grass and the dandelions, then I’ll accept the coming of spring, at which time the squirrels will move out of my house…. and that alone will make me SMILE.

Have a great day, Folks! Sending you SMILES to help it along.
