A BIT OF A RANT

This truck convoy idiocy…should I stop there? Maybe I’ll just mention that it is applauded by Donald Trump Jr., so that speaks for itself. Add to that the vote-hungry Conservative representatives who are jumping on board, the Go-fund-me account started by a member of the Maverick Party which is a separatist fringe group from the Canadian West, the fact that it is thumbed down by the Truckers’ own Federation, and there are just 15% of drivers who are not vaccinated anyway…

Really? It smacks of the 2020-21 hysteria era in the United States, and it’s breaking my heart to see our Canada come to this. It’s even being touted by a few as the Canadian January 6th.

I mean, REALLY???

By the way, I note that many who are lauding this event on social media are not even Canadians. The majority who ARE Canadians are far right members, or the inexperienced young, and let’s not forget those who seem to thrive on excitement and violence, and/or are anti-establishment for everything, or some of those drivers’ wives, whose husbands are on a free paid vacation if the Go-fund-me jackpot is ever released. It’s frozen by the fund authorities at the moment, something about lack of transparency for the distribution of said fund.

Fortunately for my state off mind, I needed to be at the hospital for a scan this morning, then worked on the contract from the new client until noon. Not much time to check out Facebook or the news until later today. Feeling as I do, so sad and utterly disappointed to see our citizens following this ‘Freedom’ BS like blind sheep, it was a huge effort in self-control to not get up on my soapbox and scream. My mantra for the past hour has been ‘You can’t fix stupid. You can’t fix stupid’

It’s not difficult to guess where I stand on this issue, is it?

Moving on.

A moment of levity: I usually have scans done at the central hospital but, due to it also being the COVID centre in this area, my doctor booked this one at the smaller local place this time. I was standing with the young nurse as she prepared the machine, and I mentioned to her that the central hospital only required us to remove our top clothing.

“If I had known it was complete undress here, I would have shaved my legs,” I joked. Normal reflex; she glanced down, then quickly whipped her head back up to stare at me in shock, her hand over her mouth.

“Oh my Goodness – I looked, didn’t I?” was her horrified exclamation. Her expression was hilarious! It took a bit before I we could stop laughing long enough to begin the procedure.

Even now, writing it here, is making me SMILE.

And sending it out to you folks, skimming over the snow and ice! It will be nice and warm by the time it arrives!

    1. I certainly hope you are right. It worries me that all those so called fringe groups are said to be tagging along. They just want to make trouble and have no justification for it. I hope it all comes down to the truckers having theirr moment off glory, and that’s the end of it.
